The Cosmos were formed in September 2006 to meet the demand for playing opportunities on a men's competitive team. WWPSA rekindled a great deal of interest in soccer amongst adult players when it began its Adult recreation program in Spring 2004. In the summer of 2004, WWPSA formed its first men's competitive team "the Wasps". Those two programs generated a lot of interest in men's competitive soccer - hence the birth of the Cosmos.
Aptly named, the Cosmos boast players from various countries and backgrounds. As anyone would expect, the new team struggled in the fall to solidify its roster and to form their own soccer identity. The Cosmos started to gel near the end of the fall portion of the MCAMSL schedule tying their fellow club team the Wasps. The Cosmos charged into the spring season handily defeating The Hamilton Heat and Hua Xia. They tied 3rd place Triumph in the regular season. In the end-of-season tournament, suffered only 1 loss in a close game to Triumph and bested both Hamilton Heat and Princeton United.
