Bombers Bedevil Dawgs To Improved to 7-2
By Tom Pydeski
July 17, 2004
The Bombers rolled to a 16-9 victory over the Plainsboro Dawgs on Sat., 7/17, disproving Roy Hororwitz's axiom that "we never do well in 9 am games...".
Jonathan Kennen and Chris "MadDog" Ruggiero continued their hot hitting, each a perfect 4 for 4 on the day with 3 and 6 RBI's respectively. Kennen hit another home run, his 3rd in the last 2 days for a team leading total of 7 homers.
Ruggiero slammed 2 round trippers, equalling Kennen's record 2 day total, while increasing his incredible team leading Batting Average to .810!
Ron Kaplan hit his second dinger of the season while going 3 for 4 to increase his 2nd place batting average to .714.
The Bomber women also pitched in mightily, with Sue Pandak going 3 for 4 while pitcher Carole Tucker went 2 for 3. Ryan Kirchoff followed up a 3 for 3 performance in Friday nights slugfest with a 1 for 2 game while walking twice, boosting her on base pct from .468 to .563 in a 24 hour period.
The Plainsboro Dawgs made some late noise, scoring 6 runs in the 5th inning, but Carole Tucker and the Bomber defense slammed the door, shutting out the Dawgs in the 6th and 7th innings. The defense continued playing well, with the occasional error, but otherwise playing crisply, turning several double plays in the short 2 game stretch.
After a 10 day rest, the Bombers play a rescheduled makeup game against at Pequod Communications on July 27th.
