BOMBERS BEAT BREAKERS............sort of...
5/12/04
by Tony Sibilla
It may have been a 10:30am start but considering just how old most of the team is, they were probably awake since 5am getting ready for their game against the Breakers. Considering the Bombers close 11-8 victory, it looks like they needed all the Metamucil they could guzzle down that morning to pull it out! (But that is a completely different problem.)
No doubt the only Bomber player actually GETTING IN at 5am, Craig Ross, must have been an absolute pleasure to play with, as he has always been in past morning matches. Amazingly enough, with most likely a hangover that would kill a medium sized hippopotamus, Ross went 2 for 3 with a Home Run and 2 RBI. (My guess is the HR was really a double. It turned into an HR after much verbal abuse levied on Tom Pydeski.....St. Tom as I like to call him!!!)
Ron Kaplan went 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBI. No doubt Kaplan is still vehemently upset at the one out he made! That's Ronny! He was probably up at 3am practicing his opposite field swing out in the backyard. This guy goes the other way more than Anne Heche!!
Roy Horowitz was a perfect 3 for 3, scoring 3 times. Absolutely incredible considering the amount of time he spends on the bench "adjusting his cup!!" (Hey Roy, if you shift it more than 3 times in a row, you're playing with it!!!)
The Bombers, obviously working with a depleted roster, pulled the cobwebs off Jim McKee, dusted him off and sent him out in the field. This is the best time to get Jimmy to play. NFL mini camp is over and 2-A-Days don't start until mid July!!
Jonathan Kennen took the collar. going 0 for 4. It really doesn't matter because, when you look as good as John does, the women still think he's a stud! (Hell, I'd go 0 for the season to be him for one day!!!)
Jeff Schneider and Tom Pydeski did not play........................................................yet another reason for the victory.
The Bombers now get their customary 2 weeks off between games as they await their next matchup against The Lucky Strikes on Thursday, June 3rd. Game time is 6:30pm at Plainsboro Park, which means most of the Bomber team will show up at 6:25pm! Ron Kaplan, of course, will be sleeping in the Little League field dugout the night before!!
