AP ENGLISHMonday: We shall discuss "The Voyage to Brobdingnag" in Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels in class. Be sure you have read carefully enough to do well on the five-minute, five-point quiz at the beginning of class. HW: Read the "Voyage to Laputa, etc." for Wednesday. Wednesday: Five-minute quiz on "The Voyage to Laputa, etc." and class discussion. HW: Begin "Voyage to Houyhnhnms" for Friday. Thursday: Read chapter 15 in Sound and Sense before class. We shall discuss the poems in that chapter. Friday: Class discussion of "The Voyage to Houyhnhnms"and continued discussion of poems in chapter 15. HW: Complete "Voyage to Houyhnhnms". LA I HONORSOn Monday: We shall continue to read and discuss Things Fall Apart, return tests on vocabulary unit 15, and your essays on "Shooting an Elephant". Then we shall go to the library to research opinion statement essays that are due on May 30. HW: Finish reading Things Fall Apart and complete vocabulary review units 1-3. On Tuesday: We shall read about and study clauses in the grammar text and discuss Things Fall Apart. HW: Complete review units 4-6 in your vocabulary text. On Wednesday: We shall write and hand in the first draft of opinion satement essays in class today. HW: Complete review units 7-9 in your vocabulary text. On Friday: Test on Things Fall Apart in class. HW: Complete vocabulary review units 10-12 . Art of the EssayTuesday: Second draft of your process essay is due in class today if you did not already hand it in. Emily, Samantha and Abdoul will demonstate their processes. Wednesday: Edit your second drafts. Demonstrations by Keisuke and Michael D. Thursday: Final drafts are due so that I can make a booklet of our how-to essays.
