Pack Meeting
Procedures
Our current roster includes over 80 boys. That means that
when we include siblings and
parents, we will have a very large group. Of utmost importance is our
Code of
Conduct policy that was instituted in past years as follows:
Pack 66 Code of Conduct
- Cubs and siblings need adult accompaniment in
hallways
- No one should be on the stage area
- No running/ tag unless in a Pack organized
activity
- No bad or offensive language
- No talking while speaker is addressing the group
- Always keep hands and feet to oneself
- Always be respectful to other Cubs, siblings
and adults
- When the Cub Scout sign is raised by an adult
leader, stop talking, raise your sign and follow all instructions
- Parents should refrain from conversations that
would create excess noise during the presentation/program
We will start the meetings on time! After the meeting starts, the front
doors will be closed. Any late arrivals should enter the room through
the back doors and use respectful discretion during the Opening
Ceremony and Flag Salute.
Color guard should arrive early to practice. During the Pledge of
Allegiance the Pack flag will be dipped out of respect to Old Glory.
Pack 66 Pocket Knife Policy
- No boy can carry a knife unless he has
earned the Whittling Chip (WC) by completing Achievement 19 in the Bear
Book, including travel to and from Cub Scout activities. When carrying
the knife, the WC must be in the boy's pocket and be presented to any
leader that asks to see it. (Some Packs suggest a small belt sheath for
the knife and the neatly folded WC. So where the knife goes, the WC
goes.)
- No knives, whatsoever, are to be brought to any
Pack-wide Function or Event, unless specifically approved in writing,
including our Family Picnic/Camp Out.
- Knives can only be brought to a Den meeting if
authorized in writing in advance by the Den Leader.
- If a WC carrying boy violates any WC rules, the
witnessing leader, at his/her discretion may tear/clip a corner of the
boy's WC to indicate the infraction. Alternatively a strong warning may
be administered. With the loss of the fourth corner, the WC and knife
are confiscated. The knife is given to the parents with a verbal
explanation of the situation. The boy must then re-do the requirements
for earning another WC in order to carry a knife again.
- At any function where knives are to be used in
the
activity, the Safety Rules and Pocketknife Pledge are to be read aloud
before the activity begins. This will remind everyone of the importance
of safety considerations when using knives.
