   Deborah Heart and Lung was established in 1922 as a tuberculosis sanitarium and pulmonary center. With the development of antibiotic medications, which eradicated TB, Deborah began expanding its focus to other chest diseases. In 1958, Dr. Charles Bailey, a pioneer in heart surgery, performed the first open heart surgery at Deborah. The specialty of cardiac diseases was immediately embraced and Deborah evolved into the only cardiac and pulmonary specialty hospital in New Jersey. Today, Deborah offers the latest surgical techniques and non- surgical alternatives for diagnosing and treating all forms of cardiac, vascular and pulmonary diseases in adults, and congenital and acquired heart defects in neonates and children.

   MKSD, founded 1883 as the New Jersey School for the Deaf, offers outreach to school districts and various agencies to improve the quality of services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing children throughout New Jersey. The Katzenbach School for the Deaf is within the New Jersey Department of Education. Consultation and technical assistance are provided to schools and agencies by appropriately trained and certified MKSD personnel and include: substance abuse prevention and intervention for students, in-service training for faculty and staff, and student observation and recommendations for appropriate instructional approaches. Additional services available to school districts are consultations with MKSD Curriculum Coordinator.

  Located in Dist 16B, the NJ Lions Eyeglass Recycling Program was adopted as official project of the Lions Clubs International in October ' and approved as a state project in May 2000. The goal of program is to promote eyeglass collection and recycling to meet the demand for quality eyeglasses in developing nations. All Lions clubs involved in eyeglass collection are asked eyeglasses, eyeglass frames and sunglasses including ( glasses to the Center, c/o Katzenbach School for the 320 Sullivan Way, West Trenton, NJ 08628. At the eyeglass recycling center, Lions and other volunteers, inspect and clean individual pairs of eyeglasses and prepare, them for shipment to Lions eye care missions and organizations overseas. Eyeglass collection is simple and an inexpensive way to become part of this program and assist others worldwide.

   Founded in 1968, the Foundation makes grants and interest free loans to District 16-B clubs and projects in the District and State. Its only source of funds are club and individual contributions and the annual Charity Ball. Two trustees from each Region serve on the Foundation.
