West Windsor Senior Citizens

Presently, FoWWSC is striving to reachout to the entire community. Friends of seniors includes their families, and the entire community: neighbors, businesses, organizations that share the goal to value the contribution of seniors to our community and wish to enrich their activities.

Most residents agree, West Windsor is a wonderful place to live! With the diversity of talent, backgrounds, traditions, and regional facilities, we have a wealth of opportunity outside our doors.

Take a look at the distribution of stakeholders in our community!

  • Our community consists of about 6500 households and over 55 business entities.
  • In 2000, 1349 are 65 years of age and over reside in our community, 3150 over age 55.

  • For 2002:
  • 785 Seniors participated in Senior Center activities.
  • 1369 Seniors were enrolled at the Senior Center activities
  • WWSC mailed over 1100 Monthly Pamphlets to our homes.
  • FoWWSC currently has 150 members as of March 2003.

Community Groups

West Windsor has over seventeen Home Owner Associations, and several entities devoted to serving the adult community. FoWWSC welcomes West Windsor's Gables Inc. which is our community's latest addition. FoWWSC is interested in the Senior quality of life in all of our centers of activity.

Community Outreach

In the early years, FoWWSC communication to the community was facilitated by newspapers. The newspaper provide a link to the entire community. In recent years, the communication has been via a Senior Center pamphlet. In addition to this web site, FoWWSC is moving to return our presense to the local papers. An article will appear in the West Windsor Plainsboro News biweekly in a March issue.

In October 2002, a FoWWSC letter was sent to all senior households to promote the fall membership drive. As a result we experienced an increase in FoWWSC members. The 2002-2003 registration resulted in an increase of about 50% increase in members for this year. Our goal is to continue to increase this rate of growth in the coming years.

The FoWWSC board intends to shed the spotlight on FoWWSC as we move forward. We will endeavor to get our message to each of the "households", businesses and organization supporting the West Windsor community to seek their suggestions and support to further the FoWWS Mission. Our first Suggestion Box has been installed in the Senior Center to gather input on Projects and Events.

If you or your organization has suggestions to offer, please contacts us!
